How I Came to Regology and What It Means to Me

Who I Am and What I Do

My name is Esteban Santana. I am the Director of Financial Services Industry for Regology.I started my career in the public sector in 1991 working as a Law Librarian. In 1998, I transitioned into investigations as a Criminal Investigator and ultimately as a federal special agent. My last 10 years of public service were with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Office of Investigations and Office of the Inspector General as a Senior Special Agent.

I was responsible for investigating

  • Bank fraud
  • Wire fraud
  • Securities fraud
  • Money laundering
  • And other investigations affecting the stability of the United States financial system.

I worked closely with the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Department of Homeland Security, Federal Reserve Bank Office of Investigations, The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), and other federal and state agencies.

Why I Joined Regology

After 20 years of investigating various types of federal crimes and working closely with bank regulators, I wanted to continue my career in an area dealing directly with helping financial institutions navigate the complexity of regulations and compliance.

Regology was the perfect fit for me because they address one of the root causes of non-compliance—not knowing which regulations to follow.

Today’s regulatory environment is ever-changing—according to the Office of the Federal Register, between 3,000 to 4,500 final rules are published every year. Regology is at the forefront of tracking and updating those regulations for its customers.

In the upcoming blogs, I will share insights gained from my experiences with the FDIC in the hopes of helping you navigate the complexities of regulations and compliances in the financial sector.
